Darrell Edwards

Class of 1983 | 2024 Hall of Fame

A lifetime member of the Goshen community, Darrell Edwards exemplifies the Warrior spirit through his dedication to education and service. A 1983 graduate of Goshen High School, Darrell returned home after college at Miami University to begin what would become a distinguished 34+ year career in education. He married Ruth Gifford, “Rudy”, a 1984 Goshen High alum and current Goshen High School teacher. Together they have raised three children, all proudly carrying on the Warrior legacy as Goshen graduates themselves.

Darrell’s passion for nurturing young minds was evident at every level. He coached numerous youth sports. He was a secondary social studies teacher, before transitioning to principal at Spaulding Elementary School and eventually ascending to the role of Superintendent of Goshen Local Schools. A role he performed from 2012 until his retirement in 2023. Under his visionary leadership, Goshen schools achieved numerous academic milestones and weathered both a world-wide pandemic and the school campus being hit by a tornado.

Even in retirement, Darrell’s commitment to the Goshen community and Goshen Schools remains unwavering. He actively volunteers and lends his expertise to multiple organizations and committees, including the Goshen Education Foundation. His lifetime of stewardship reinforces the strong bonds between the Goshen schools and the community it serves.

By exemplifying the Warrior spirit through a career dedicated to education and service, Darrell Edwards has established a legacy that will impact generations of Goshen students and residents to come. The Goshen Warriors community is stronger thanks to Darrell’s efforts and we welcome him as a member of the Goshen Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
